As English continues to spread as an international lingua franca, there is a growing diversity in its use around the world. result, are calls for embracing teaching, learning and assessment of language. At same time, criticism against widely taken language tests such Test Foreign Language (TOEFL) The International Testing System (IELTS) being guided by pervasive ideology monolingual native speakerism devaluing multilingual speakers multiple varieties Englishers. Against this backdrop, conceptual paper focuses on influence World Englishes movement these so-called standardized critically examines how existing practices fail represent repertoires actual diverse range test-takers Based critical analysis relevant literature Englishes, highlights progress, challenges possibilities incorporation more models translingual world that we live today.
